Environmental Law and Science, PLLC has experience across wide range of environmental law matters and challenges at the federal level and in many states. Our practice focuses on four primary areas:
- Environmental Compliance and Advocacy – advising and supporting clients in complying with the vast network of laws addressing air, water and waste, including permitting and auditing, as well the defense of agency enforcement actions
- Contaminated Sites and Brownfields – providing legal support to clients regarding potential liability from third party and legacy waste sites, as well as the cleanup and redevelop of contaminated property
- Transactional Advice – assisting clients with the environmental aspects of corporate, real estate and other business transactions
- PFAS and Chemical Regulation – providing strategic and compliance advice to clients on chemical product regulation, including PFAS and other emerging chemicals
Beyond these core areas, we have experience in a broad array of environmental, health and safety law issues, at the federal level and across many states, from Minnesota to the US Virgin Islands.
The firm’s principal is Jeffery Sepesi. Jeff’s professional experience began with a startup environmental testing and consulting company, where he literally climbed smokestacks, went down sewers and ran an environmental laboratory. He created his own interdisciplinary master’s program in hazardous waste management at the University of Michigan School of Public Health taking classes ranging from risk assessment and science policy to environmental engineering.
Jeff was an environmental scientist at two nationally recognized environmental consulting firms, CH2M Hill and Barr Engineering. He performed site investigations and evaluations, health risk assessments and compliance evaluations for Superfund sites, MGP sites, refineries, landfills, commercial property and manufacturing operations.
Jeff has practiced environmental law for over 25 years at AmLaw 100 and mid-size law firms and in a solo practice. During this time, he has addressed a broad range of environmental regulatory compliance, transactional and environmental litigation matters for clients ranging from oil companies to resort hotels. Before starting Environmental Law and Science, Jeff served as in-house environmental, health and safety counsel at the 3M Company, where his portfolio included facility environmental, safety and health, audits, OSHA compliance, TSCA compliance, site remediation, third party/legacy sites and PFAS. He also served on 3M’s Institutional Review Board for human subject research.
