West Palm Beach, Fla., April 27, 2017 – Lewis, Longman & Walker, P.A. Attorney Rachael B. Santana was recently selected to join the 2017-2018 Class of the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute.
The Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute is an eight-month professional development program hosted by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). Each year, 20 fellows from a broad range of natural resource professions and sectors are selected to join the leadership program. To date the program has trained over 276 environmental professionals from over 102 organizations in Florida who share a passion for working together to shape Florida’s future. LLW Shareholder Kevin Hennessy is a member of the 2008-2009 Class of the Natural Resources Leadership Institute and Associate Christopher Johns is a member of the 2009-2010 Class.
Rachael’s practice focuses on working closely with clients to listen, understand and execute their strategic objectives within the evolving and complex area of environmental and land use permitting and litigation. Rachael assists clients in obtaining local, state and federal environmental permits and is specialized in defending those permits in the courts. Rachael’s experience has involved defending sovereignty submerged land authorizations and successfully challenging the location of a new power plant, as well as the environmental compliance of an existing power plant under Florida’s Power Plant Siting Act.
Rachael earned Bachelor of Arts & Science degrees in English and Anthropology, cum laude, from the University of Florida, and her Juris Doctor, with a certificate in Environmental and Land Use Law, from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law.
